Category tree

Category tree displays all existing offer categories in their hierarchical structure.

The hierarchical category structure - top, 2nd and 3rd level categories. Use the expand/collapse arrows to expand/collapse individual top and 2nd level categories.

Use Expand all / Collapse all to bulk-expand or bulk-collapse all categories in the tree.

Click Show filter to open the Filter categories dialog. Use the dialog to specify filtering of categories.

Use the Create category button to create a new category. The action by default creates a blank 1st level category and opens it in category detail where its position needs to be specified using the Parent category 1st level and Parent category 2nd level fields.

Note that it is also possible to directly create a new subcategory of a selected 1st or 2nd level category.

Use the status column to see which categories will be visible to the end user. Three possibilities exist:

  • No status - the category will be visible.

  • Invisible (the crossed eye symbol) - the category will not be visible because it does not contain any active offers (i.e. it is either a 3rd level category with no active offers or a higher level category whose 3rd level subcategories contain no active offers).

  • Inactive - the category will not be visible because it is deactivated, e.g. as part of category structure currently in development. Deactivating a category also deactivates (i.e. makes invisible) all its subcategories.

    Inactive category with no offers is displayed with the invisible status.

  • Recommended - the category is specified as recommended. It will be shown as a recommended category tile in the Shop homepage.

Use the reorder icons to change the order of categories. Note that categories can only be reordered on the same level and within their common parent category.

Operations in the filtered state of Category tree

If searching or filtering is applied in the Category tree, the tree structure changes into a linear list and corresponding controls are provided.

Categories are displayed as a list.

The list can be sorted by category name (ascending, descending).

Filter controls - if only filtering is applied (as captured in the screenshot above):

  • Click  Show filter to open the Filter categories dialog. Use the dialog to specify or modify categories filtering. Additionally, a number displayed next to the Show filter control informs you about the number of currently applied filtering criteria.

  • Click Clear all filters to clear the filtering and display an unfiltered category tree again.

Filter controls - if both filtering and searching are applied:

  • Click  Show filter to open the Filter categories dialog - same as above.

  • Click the Clear filter control to clear filtering only. Searching is still applied and categories remain displayed in a list form.

  • Click the Clear filter and search control to cancel both searching and filtering. An unfiltered category tree gets displayed again.

Categories count displays a ratio: number of categories fulfilling the search-filter criteria / total number of categories
